Another long, dusty, and very satisfying day at the house. We officially have all the floors sanded with the first layer, and it feels like a huge milestone. Seeing everything at the same stage now really helps me picture where we’re headed, even if there’s still plenty of work ahead.
Next week we’ll move on to a couple more grits of sandpaper, slowly refining and smoothing everything out before the final finish. Once that’s done, we’ll seal the floors and finish them with Bona Mega One, which I am very much looking forward to. Every step brings the floors closer to revealing their true character, and it’s exciting to think about how different the rooms will feel once they’re complete.
In between all the floor work, I also spent more time on the banisters, continuing the battle against layers and layers of old paint. Let me tell you—this is not a job for the faint of heart. It’s tedious, messy, and requires more patience than I sometimes think I have. But little by little, the details are starting to come through, and that makes it worth it.
Progress days like this are exhausting, but they’re also incredibly rewarding. Thank you for following along and cheering us on through every dusty, paint-splattered step.
