Happy New Year: Another Step Forward on the Floors

We’re continuing to make steady progress restoring the hardwood floors in Gram’s 1900s house, and this week marked another big milestone. Another layer has been sanded away, bringing the floors even closer to being ready for sealant.

Each pass reveals more character, more warmth, and more of the history that’s been hiding beneath the surface for decades.

Won’t lie—the dust is real. I am very much looking forward to the day when the sanding is finished and we can finally move on to the next phase. Every stage of this restoration seems to come with its own challenges, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. There’s something special about watching hard work slowly turn into something beautiful.

I’m really trying to stay present in the process, even on the harder days. This blog has become such a helpful way for me to pause and reflect on how far we’ve come. Looking back at earlier posts and photos reminds me that progress doesn’t always feel dramatic in the moment, but it adds up. The pictures especially tell a story that words sometimes can’t.

Thank you all so much for the continued support, encouragement, and love. It truly means more than you know, and it helps keep me going as we bring this old house back to life, one layer at a time. 💛
