🏡 Restoring Mountain View: The Next Chapter
It has been a few months since we’ve shared an update from Mountain View, but that doesn’t mean things have slowed down! In fact, there has been A LOT happening behind the scenes. ❤️
Over the last few months, we have officially finished all of the plaster repairs upstairs! We then sanded all of the walls and cleaned everything up in preparation for the next big step… PRIMER! 🎨
While all of that was happening, I decided to take on another old-house challenge and started learning how to reglaze windows. And I’m pretty proud to say that I have now finished all 12 upstairs windows, which means 24 individual sashes! 😳🙌
There is something so satisfying about taking these old windows that have seen so many years and giving them a little more life. They may not be perfect, but that’s part of what makes this house special. We’re trying to preserve as much of the original character as we can while bringing Mountain View back to life.
And then there’s the kitchen and attached barn…
We’ve started the process of leveling this area of the house. It is definitely a slow process, but watching things change as we go is AMAZING. It’s one of those projects where you have to trust the process because the transformation doesn’t happen overnight but when you step back and see what’s happening, it’s pretty incredible.
This house continues to teach us patience, perseverance, and apparently a whole lot of skills we never knew we would need! 😂
And, as always, thank you. ❤️
To everyone who has helped us scrape, sand, repair, carry, lift, encourage, teach, problem-solve, or simply cheer us on along the way, we could not have done this without you.
This home is slowly becoming the home we’ve imagined for so long, and we are so grateful to have so many people helping us along the way.
One window, one wall, one floor, one project at a time. 🏡❤️
The old house is coming back to life. Please enjoy all the photos!!!
