Bringing Color Back to Gram’s House: The Bedrooms Are Coming to Life!

There is something pretty special about the moment a house starts to feel like a home again. After months of scraping, sanding, repairing, cleaning, and wondering if we would ever get to the fun part, we are finally adding some COLOR to Gram’s house!

The upstairs bedrooms are getting their first coats of paint, and I have to say, it feels like a whole new chapter is beginning at 84 Mountain View.

For so long, these rooms have been a collection of old wallpaper, tired walls, plaster repairs, and a whole lot of hard work. We have spent countless hours getting them ready for this moment, and seeing that first layer of color go on the walls is incredibly rewarding. Suddenly, the rooms feel brighter, warmer, and full of possibility. It’s as if the house is slowly stretching, waking up, and remembering what it feels like to be lived in.

And the COLORS! We are going with rich, lively shades that feel historic but still have plenty of fun and personality. I want these rooms to have character, colors that feel like they belong in an old farmhouse while also making the spaces feel fresh and welcoming. We aren’t trying to erase the history of this house. We want to honor it, build on it, and give it a little new life along the way.

Of course, we are only at the first coat, so there is still plenty of work ahead. But even that first coat makes such a difference. After all the behind-the-scenes work that nobody really sees, it is exciting to finally have something to show for all those hours of preparation.

Restoring a house this old has taught us that progress doesn’t always come in big, dramatic moments. Sometimes it is a repaired wall, a finished window, or a little patch of color that reminds you why you started in the first place.

And this? This feels like one of those moments.

Gram’s house is slowly becoming our home, but it will always carry the memories, history, and love that came before us. We hope to preserve those pieces while creating new memories for our family and the generations who will come after us.

For now, we are celebrating colorful walls, rooms with personality, and the feeling that 84 Mountain View is finally starting to come back to life.

Stay tuned we still have plenty of work to do, and I can’t wait to share how these bedrooms turn out!

A Color for Every Room

Each of the upstairs bedrooms is getting its own personality, with colors that feel historic, lively, and just a little bit fun.

The sewing room is painted Audrey’s Blush, a special nod to Gram herself. Audrey was Gram’s name, and it feels fitting to carry a little piece of her into this room as we continue bringing her house back to life.

The double twin room is Quietude, the twin room is Pale Moss, the master bedroom is Mizzle, and the queen bedroom is Calluna. Each color brings something a little different to the upstairs, while still feeling right at home in this old farmhouse.

We are only at the first coat, but already these rooms are beginning to feel alive again. I can’t wait to see how everything comes together as we keep moving forward!

One room, one coat, and one little piece of history at a time. ❤️

Thanks for following along on this labor of love. We truly couldn’t do it without all the help, encouragement, and support along the way!
