Restoring 84 Mountain View: The Finishing Touches Are Coming Together!

10/19/2026

Remember when we shared the first coat of paint going onto the upstairs bedrooms? Well, we made it to the next step this weekend, and things are really starting to come together at Gram’s house!

After all the scraping, sanding, plaster repair, and prep work, it has been so exciting to watch the upstairs transform. The first coat brought color back into the rooms, but now, with the final coat of paint going on and the molding getting finished, we are starting to see these bedrooms take shape.

And what a difference those finishing touches make!

There is something about that last coat of paint that makes everything feel a little more complete. The colors look richer, the rooms feel more finished, and we can finally start picturing what these spaces will look like when all the work is done. We chose colors that feel historic and full of character, but with a little fun mixed in, and I think they are giving each room just the personality we hoped for.

The sewing room, with its special color, Audrey’s Blush, will always hold a little extra meaning for us. Every room has its own character, and seeing them come together is a reminder of why we wanted to preserve the charm of this old farmhouse in the first place.

We are also working on finishing the molding, which is one of those details that can make such a difference. It may not be the biggest part of the project, but those little details are what help a room feel complete. Of course, in a house that’s more than 100 years old, nothing is ever quite as simple as it sounds! There is always something to work around, something that needs a little extra attention, or another small project waiting around the corner.

But that’s part of the adventure, right?

Restoring 84 Mountain View has been a lesson in patience. Sometimes progress feels slow, especially when so much of the work happens behind the scenes. Then we reach a weekend like this one, and suddenly we can look around and see just how far we have come.

These rooms are no longer just old walls waiting for repair. They are becoming bedrooms again, spaces that will someday hold family visits, conversations, laughter, and new memories while still carrying the history of the generations who came before us.

We still have plenty left to do, and we know there will be more surprises along the way. But for now, we are celebrating another little milestone: the final coats of paint, the molding coming together, and a little more of Gram’s house finding its way home.

One room, one finishing touch, and one little piece of history at a time. ❤️

Thank you, as always, to everyone who continues to cheer us on and lend a helping hand. This truly is a labor of love, and we are so grateful to have so many people be part of the journey.

Stay tuned for more from 84 Mountain View. We are getting there, one project at a time!
